1st Grade

FIRST GRADE IDEA LAB

Students will learn about perseverance, develop their inductive and deductive thinking skills, and participate in engaging interdisciplinary units this year in Idea Lab. During the first semester, we focus on PETS™, a thinking skills program. PETS™ serves the dual purpose of developing higher-level thinking skills in students of all abilities. PETS™ follows the taxonomy outlined by Benjamin Bloom, presenting small group lessons in analysis, synthesis, and evaluation as well as visual thinking that reach students.

Students will be introduced to:
Dudley the Detective and Sybil the Scientist, the convergent thinkers
Isabel the Inventor and Yolanda the Yarnspinner, the divergent thinkers
Jordan the Judge, the evaluative thinker
Max the Magician, the visual thinker
