First Grader's Learn the Scientific Method

Today, first graders wrote a hypothesis and made some inferences about how long it would take a kernel of popcorn to pop using various amounts of oil. Some kids thought the kernel would pop faster using more oil while others thought it would take less oil to make the kernel pop. In the end we made the conclusion that we needed more data. There were lots of factors that skewed our results. So our theory was inconclusive. We learned  a lot about the scientific process and we'll keep you posted on our next experiment!
