First Graders Learn and Implement the Scientific Method
First graders made observations, wrote hypotheses, experimented and came up with theories about how many drops of oil were needed to pop a kernel of popcorn in the shortest amount of time. Check out these budding scientists!

Second Graders Preparing for Junior First Lego league.
Second graders are researching honey bee habitats and looking at how various animals face similar threats to the honey bee. They decided to research about honey badgers. One of the biggest threats that many animals face is human recklessness. In preparation for the tournament, students are writing programs and designing projects that depict the habitat they are researching using the Lego Wedo kits.

Fourth Graders Need Your Help!
Looking for a great way to get some exercise while helping out our Ladue elementary students and local animal rescue organizations? It's free, it's easy, all you have to do is download a free app, walk by yourself, walk with friends or walk with your dogs. The app will keep track of your miles and on November 4th, let me know how far you walked. The kids will add your name to the back of their display board for their competition! Learning Latitude and Longitude

Equations Club Competes in Academic Challenge Cup
Congrats to our teams that competed at the Equations Tournament at UMSL on March 2. Team, 'Haz No Chance' won one of top three highest scores! Congratulations to Aaron for taking one of the top three individual scores. Great job to all the students who participated this season!

Second Graders Prepare for Jr. First Lego League
The Techy, Techy Terminators and the Masters of Plastic are researching how electronic waste and plastic waste are managed. They are completing their Lego robotics board writing programs using the WeDo software. We had a guest speaker from the St. Louis Department of Health and she taught the kids about MRF, Material Recovery Facilities, and various types of recyclables are sorted. Popcorn Plant!
We germinated popcorn kernels to see what would happen! During our experiment we watched the seeds develop roots and sprout leaves. Today we transplanted our baby plants and recorded their growth in our journals.
